What Is CBD Oil?

CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is one of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. There are over 100 different cannabinoids, and CBD is particularly very well-known for being non-psychoactive with a wide range of different therapeutic benefits. Its counterpart, however, is THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol. CBD and THC are two of the most commonly known compounds in the cannabis plant. The distinguishing factor between CBD and THC is that THC is psychoactive and is responsible for the “high” and “intoxication” associated with marijuana.

Is CBD The Same As Marijuana?

A lot of confusion gets caught in the middle of the term “CBD” and “Marijuana”, primarily because the two are derived from the same plant – Cannabis. When we hear the word “Cannabis”, we often find ourselves with an irrational concern simply due to the fact that the word “Cannabis” has a negative association with the psychoactive side effects of marijuana. It’s only right to be concerned, but I’m glad to shed some light on users wanting to get the most of the therapeutic benefits of cannabis without the negative side effects.

Now to answer the question, CBD is not the same as marijuana. Though they are derived from the same plant, CBD is derived from another variety of cannabis – the hemp plant. This plant is commonly referred to as industrial hemp, simply because it is used in the production of soaps, shampoos, paint, plastics, etc. In the past, hemp was also used to create rope and clothing due to its fiber.

In modern days, hemp has now been used to provide the same, and many more, therapeutic benefits unlike it’s counterpart that we know as medical marijuana.

What’s The Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana?

The primary difference that distinguishes hemp from marijuana is the amount of THC. Hemp is legally grown to concentrations of less than 0.3% THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, the key factor responsible for inducing the feeling of being “high” in marijuana. Marijuana contains anywhere from 15-25% concentrations of THC, which is why a small dose can bring an onset of psychoactivity. Unlike marijuana, Hemp contains only 0.3% THC and is nowhere near a significant amount to activate such psychoactivity. Simply put, you get the whole therapeutic benefits without having to worry about getting high.

How CBD Works With Your Body

CBD works in ways as though it were unlocking critical locks in your bodily systems that promote overall better health, and it does so by the means of the Endocannabinoid, or ECS system. The endocannabinoid system is made up of cannabinoids itself and maintains homeostasis throughout the body. It also helps with regulating many key functions such as pain, relief, and appetite.

CBD plays a key role when it comes to the endocannabinoid system, mainly because of the CB1 and CB2 receptors that are found all throughout the body. CB1 receptors are primarily located in the brain and nervous system, while CB2 receptors are found in the cells of the immune system and peripheral organs.

When you consume CBD, it indirectly acts with these CB1 and CB2 receptors and encourages the body to produce more endocannabinoids which stimulate the existing receptors – and this is why CBD has so many therapeutic benefits for an array of different conditions.

CBD Dosing Guidelines

One of the most convenient ways to dose CBD is by administering it in the form of a tincture, which many producers offer. Tinctures containing CBD are often combined with CBD hemp oil and come with a dropper for easy dosing. The proper CBD tincture dosage will depend on each person and that there is no “one dose fits all”.

It is always good to start with a small dosage, and then gradually increase until you obtain your desired result(s). A nifty CBD Dosing Calculator can be found on VitaLeaf Naturals – all you need to do is input the size of the bottle, how many mg of CBD it contains, and your weight, and voila, you’ve got yourself a handy dosing guideline!

Where To Purchase CBD Oil

If you’re looking for CBD isolate oil wholesale there are a few guidelines you should follow especially when looking to purchase online.

You’ll want to make sure the website you’re purchasing from offers transparency by means of providing their Certificate of Analysis – primarily because you should be confident that the CBD products you are buying contain adequate amounts of CBD and less than 0.3% of THC.

It’s also important to take note that the CBD products are derived from quality, organic and free from herbicides and pesticides. Most quality CBD products are derived from hemp imported from Europe.

Alternatively, we recommend you check out VitaLeaf Natural’s CBD+ Full Spectrum Phytocannabinoid Oil because you can never go wrong with a company that uses their own products not only for their own consumption but as an added supplement for their pets, too!
